The Bessel Block support system design puts a pre-load in the block and is held in position with six roll pins and six cap screws. Simply put, the Bessel Block support system overwhelmingly increases the blocks stability. Not like other systems available that use dowel pins (which are designed to shear that's why they are used in distributors). The Bessel support can not be installed with a 1/4 hand drill. These are precision girdles which are designed from the center line of the crankshaft. These girdles must be install with a bridge-port or CNC machine. The Bessel Block support systems can be installed by your local machine shop the kits come with all hardware and instructions. When Incorporated with the Bessel Splayed Caps you can add more horsepower and torque to your racing application

As any diehard Ford racing enthusiast knows, typical 302 blocks crack in the number two main. These cracks are caused by cap chatter this causes a great amount of bearing damage and horsepower loss. The consequence is a flexing of the block, which quickly destroys the main bearings and eventually, the crankshaft. At the same time when the main cracks the crack will run down into the weak valley area. This is where the Bessel splayed caps and Bessel valley support system come into play.
