Step 1.  Your block must be squared with the center line of the crankshaft.

Step 2. You must cut block 1.200" long and .200" wide in between the lifters (as seen in the short film) with the least amount of material to be removed. You are looking to make all six pads the same.

(so that the Bessel girdle will sit flat and level)

IMPORTANT: DO NOT USE THE GIRDLE AS A TEMPLATE

Step 3.  We are going to center drill the holes in the block using a Number 3 center drill. Here are the locations of the holes.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT USE THE GIRDLE AS A TEMPLATE

  Hole 1 is X  O    (Y- 1.460)

  Hole 2 is X - .600

  Hole 3 is X - 4.380

  Hole 4 is X - 4.980

  Hole 5 is X - 8.760

  Hole 6 is X - 9.360

 Holes 7 - 12   (Y+ 1.460)

     Hole 7  is X - 10.060

  Hole 8 is X - 9.460

  Hole 9 is X - 5.680

   Hole 10 is X - 5.080

  Hole 11 is X - 1.300

Hole 12 is X - .700

Step 4.  We are going to drill the holes in the block using a 15/64 drill bit (Drill holes #1 - 3 - 6 - 7 - 9 - 12)

Step 5.  We are going to Ream the holes in the block using a .2485 reamer  (Ream holes #'s 1 - 3 - 6 - 7 - 9 - 12) On this operation DO NOT ream all the way through leave a lip at the bottom so the dowel pins,  DO NOT go all the way through the block. These holes are for the dowel pins.

As you see in the picture Holes # 1 - 3 - 6 - 7 - 9 - 12 are NOT REAMED all the way through its important to leave a lip so the dowel pin will not go in all the way.(Look close to hole one and you can see material still in the hole so the pin can rest there.)

Step 6.  We are going to drill the holes in the block using a 13/64 drill bit (Drill holes # 2 - 4 - 5 - 8 - 10 - 11) On this operation you can go all the way through these holes are for the cap screws.

Step 7.  We are going to install the dowel pins  in (holes #'s 1 - 3 - 6 - 7 - 9 - 12) Use loctite to install pins. Make sure we have the dowel pins in first before installing the girdle. Next we are going to install the Bessel girdle by tapping it into position.

Step 8. Once we have the Bessel girdle in place we will use the girdle for aligning the tap for the threads. We will be using a 1 / 4 x 20 tap you can run all the way through . We tap all of these holes by hand. Once we have everything tapped we are going to use Loctite on the cap screw bolts and torque to 10 lbs.
